Unir varios PDFs en Linux

Hoy tuve la necesidad de unir varios PDFs en linux. Encontré este link:

Aquí se discuten 3 opciones.

Cuando probé gs, mi máquina se tostó (supongo que fué culpa de la memoria RAM). Intenté la segunda opción JoinPDF, descargable desde aquí
link
y resultó justo lo necesario. Simple, rápido y eficiente.

Aunque inicialmente me llamó la atención poder hacer esto usando gs, definitivamente me quedo con JoinPDF. Para un usuario como yo, unir PDFs no debe ser un proyecto de tres dias entre preconfiguración, instalación, postconfiguración, lectura del man, lectura del gs para newbies y ejecución del "script" de union.

Otra opción interesante (un poco mas larga, pero igual sencilla) es usar LaTeX para unirlos, por medio del paquete pdfpages link.
Éste paquete es de uso super sencillo y resulta bastante util a la hora de anexar documentos a un archivo.

Conexión via telnet/ssh con una planta telefónica AVAYA (Definity o intuity)

Al intentar conectarse a una planta telefónica AVAYA se tiene el inconveniente que las teclas de funcion (F1-F12) no son reconocidas como desde el ASA. Encontré este .Xdefaults para hacer que con xterm funcionen suficientemente bien.

Para usarlo basta cargarlos con

xrdb -load ~/.Xdefaults

y luego hacer telnet al servidor en el puerto indicado, en mi caso

telnet DEFINITY_SERVER 5111

Resolver contra WINS en linux

Para resolver nombres de Windows (WINS) en Linux, solo basta con añadir la palabra wins a la linea hosts en el nsswitch (/etc/nsswitch.conf):
Cambiar de

hosts: files dns
a
hosts: files dns wins

Multiples monitores con un solo par teclado/mouse

Hoy configuré el programa synergy de manera que SuKy pudiera trabajar con dos monitores.

No es justo lo que buscaba (extender virtualmente el área de trabajo de SuKy), pero funciona muy bien.

La idea según creo (no he leido al respecto) es que se crea un "escritorio remoto" de un pixel de ancho al lado de la pantalla que se quiera, de manera que al alcanzar ese escritorio se tiene control sobre otra máquina (colocada convenientemente al lado del primer monitor).

El efecto es bastante bueno, aunque algunas veces se cuelga un poco.

Slack pequeño para máquina virtual

Quise hacer un Slack pequeño para una máquina virtual. Es básico pero no minimal (aúnque no está mal, pesa 293MB)
